The funds raised through these events will be directed towards the Canadian Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, through the local Kitchener chapter. Cystic Fibrosis uses this money to both further research on this illness as well as to provide assistance to sufferers of the disease.
Cystic Fibrosis (CF) is a debilitating, genetic disease which dramatically reduces the life expectancy of individuals with the illness. The median age of survival of Canadians with CF is now 37 years. Cystic fibrosis causes a build-up of thick mucus in the lungs leading to severe respiratory problems. Meanwhile, mucus and protein build-up in the digestive tract results in extreme difficulty in digesting and absorbing adequate nutrients from food. If not removed by very rigorous daily therapy it causes infection and eventually shuts down the lungs. It is an illness that affects children and it requires daily therapy to remain healthy (more information: http://www.kwdcfc.ca).
We are asking for your support and generosity to meet our goal of raising $6,000 for Cystic Fibrosis!!
